Understanding How a Car Battery Works
Car batteries are one of those components that most people do not appreciate until they try to start a car and it does not start. At that point, it essentially becomes the most important component of the car to that person.
The truth is the battery does a lot more than start an engine. It also silently powers the car lights, infotainment unit, air conditioning unit, and all those other little electrical components that we tend to consume and take for granted. Cold weather will slow the chemical reactions within the battery and produce less power. In contrast, hot weather can cause the electrolyte fluid to evaporate, therefore, shortening its lifespan.

Time carries all things to the grave. Historically, the internal chemicals of every battery will age and the reactions run more slowly over time. Car batteries generally last between 3 to 5 years, though, this will depend on driving behavior and the maintenance of the vehicle.
